Setting is the background in which the
story takes place. Several aspects in
setting, there are place and time. Place is the geographical location of
the story takes place. In the necklace was taking in many places. It takes in French; it shows from currency is francs. In this many places was described in it. Such as in dining room, there is a conversation between Mathilde Loisel and
her husband about invitation from ministry of Education. In Madame
Forestier’s house in her dressing table, which Madame Loisel wants to
borrow her jewel. In the party, which Madame Loisel and her
husband attend the party. In the apartment, that they back from the
party. In a shop at the Palais-Royal, the place that she wants to buy new
same necklace from the necklace whom eliminates. In the street Champs-Elysees,
that Madame Loisel meets with Madame Forestier who was borrowing her necklace.

good characteristic that she has effort to replace her friend’s necklace which
lost in the party. Madame Forestier husband is kind person, he was not a rich
man because he just a little clerk in the Ministry of Education. But he loved Madame Forestier so much. It can be seen when he gave his money for a
gun to buy a beautiful dress for her wife, Mathilda. He was also a
handworker. He worked hard to earn some
money to replace the necklace.
Madame
Loisel is Madame Forestier’s friend.
She is kind person; she lends her necklace to her poor friend. She was a rich person. it can be seen by the collection of her jewelry.
Plot is the story line. Plot has elements; they are exposition,
conflict, crisis, climax, and resolution.
Exposition is the setting scene, the
characters, and any background information that will be essential to knowing
what is going on in the story and or the main situation that leads to the
conflict. Exposition in the necklace story, there was a girl who
was pretty and charming girl. She is artisan’s daughter who desire to be rich
woman. Unfortunately, she married to
little clerk in Ministry of Education. They lived in a poor condition.
Conflict is main problem of a story
exists when a struggle with an oncoming hurricane that is threatening to
destroy his/her entire town. The
conflict in the necklace is Madame
Mathilde Forestier desire to the wealth and life better. She wants luxurious life such as delicate
meals gleaming silver tapestries peopling the walls with folk of a past age and
strange birds in faery forest, she imagined delicate food served in marvellous
dishes, murmured gallantries, listened to with an inscrutable smile as one trifled
with the rosy flesh of trout or wings of asparagus chicken.
Crisis is the crisis is the turning
point in the story. The crisis in the necklace story is Madame Mathilde
Forestier and her husband gets an invitation to go to a great occasion
in the Ministry on the Monday evening. Madame Mathilda felt so sad because she
had no dress and jewelry to wear.
Climax is the point of highest
interest or suspense in the story. And the climax in the necklace is the necklace’s Madame Loisel who lends the jewel to

universe. The theme of the necklace is the woman‘s desire of wealthy.

is denotation; because the language
is used of, it is very easy to understanding.
